Catholic
Schools Counselling & Assessment Program

This program is funded by the Catholic Schools Office in the
Diocese of Armidale and
offers assessment and counselling services
to students and their families within primary and
secondary Catholic Schools.
We provide services to Catholic
Schools from Werris Creek to Tenterfield, Armidale to
Walgett, and Tamworth to Moree
·
This program is delivered from each of our offices in Tamworth,
Armidale and Moree as well as an outreach service to the
majority of schools within the Diocese.

Students are
referred for counselling by their school Principal
for concerns evident within the school environment.
·
Students are referred for psychometric/cognitive assessment
to determine cognitive functioning and identify areas of
strength and weakness. This assessment aims to determine
whether a student is eligible for funding and to assist
in the implementation of home and school based
strategies to help students reach their learning
potential.

Group programs can also be delivered in schools to promote and develop psychological and
emotional well being and resilience in students.
Provision of this service for students is based upon the
identification of need within particular schools and
student groups.

Centacare NENW provides Employee Assistance to adults employed by the Catholic Schools Office. Psychological
counselling services are provided to staff on request.
·
Centacare NENW also offers in-service training and support
programs to students and staff.
These services are
provided by trained professional Psychologists
