Catholic Schools Counselling & Assessment Program
This program is funded by the Catholic Schools Office in the Diocese of Armidale. Centacare NENW employs psychologists and counsellors to provide psychometric assessment and counselling services within primary and secondary Catholic schools in the New England North West region. Services are delivered from each of our offices in Tamworth, Armidale and Moree as well as an outreach service to all schools within the Diocese.
Students are referred for counselling by their school Principal for concerns evident within the school environment. Our staff work closely with students, parents and teachers to overcome learning and behavioural issues to promote optimum outcomes in the classroom.
Students are referred for psychometric assessment to determine cognitive functioning and identify areas of strength and weakness in a student’s learning style. This assessment process determines whether a student is eligible for funding, and to assist in the implementation of strategies to help students reach their full learning potential.
Our experienced staff also provide counselling and treatment services to staff employed by the Catholic Schools Office through our Employee Assistance Program. EAP services are provided to staff on request. Staff are able to access EAP services via self-referral or through their school Principal.
Our psychologists and counsellors are committed to supporting children, school staff and families in our region who are experiencing difficulties and require some assistance.
These services are provided by registered Psychologists and Counsellors.
All staff employed by Centacare adhere to the confidentiality requirements specified in the governing legislation, and work in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.
