Parenting and Family Courses
Here you will find a brief introduction to the parenting/family courses presented through the Family Relationship Centre (FRC). All of these programs are funding through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) and are FREE.

Explosive Child
Explosive Child is a course for understanding and parenting easily frustrated, chronically inflexible children. Designed for parents who have children who show extreme behaviour this course teaches a collaborative problem solving approach to help manage extreme behaviour in children. This course runs over 2 weeks and provides parents with plenty of information and practical exercises.
Surviving Your Adolescents
In Surviving Your Adolescents caregivers will learn how to manage and let go of their teenager. Conducted over 2 weeks topics covered include what is normal adolescent behaviour, how to manage teen risk-taking, the 4 cardinal sins (what not to do), and ways to improve your relationship.
Teens In Between
Teens In Between gives teenagers the opportunity to gain an understanding of family separation and divorce. They will learn strategies to deal with changes in their family, while developing communication skills and exploring the concept of self-esteem. This is a 2 full day course which runs during school holidays depending on demand.
Parenting Now
This is a 2 week program for parents to gain a better understanding of children’s behaviour. Learn about the role of communication in behaviour, triggers for challenging behaviour and tips and techniques for changing behaviour patterns.
How to Now and Building Connections
Parenting after separation can be an extremely challenging time and children can often become entangled in the process. How 2 Now is a beneficial course designed to give parents tools, skills and education for helping their children through a separation.
Building Connections is a chance for people to find out about the mediation process.
Hey, Dad!
This is a program for men. Whether you’re a father, grandfather or uncle Hey. Dad! allows you to discover your value as a male role model in a child’s life. This is also a great chance to develop new fathering skills, exploring ways to communicate and be with your kids and look at strategies to take the stress out of parenting. Come and find out why fatherhood really is the best job on the planet.
Relationship Renovation
Relationship Renovation is a 2 week course to help couples repair or maintain their relationship. Learn what are the 4 most common relationship problems, antidotes to the 4 relationship killers, practical tools for problem solving and ways to sharpen up your listening.
Extended and Blended
Are you supporting someone going through mediation? Then Extended and Blended is a course to support you! Explore the effects of separation on children, parents and extended family members. Find out how the mediation process works and useful tips and tools to support the parties through the process.
