At our Natural Fertility Service the Sympto Thermal Method (STM) of Natural Family Planning is taught.
STM is a method concentrating on mucus changes at the cervix, basal body temperature changes and an individual’s own menstrual cycle length to determine fertility.
In today’s society the Sympto Thermal Method (STM) works well, as women are taught as many indicators of fertility as possible so that they feel confident in recognizing their ovulation time.
Who can use Natural Family Planning?
Natural Fertility Services can be used by couples at all stages of a women’s fertile life. It is suitable for:
- Women with regular or irregular menstrual cycles
- Women breast feeding or weaning
- Couples have difficulty conceiving
- Couples trying to avoid pregnancy
- Peri-menopausal women
How can I learn about Natural Family Planning?
STM is a scientifically based Natural Fertility Method that is simple to learn and highly effective whether it is used to conceive or avoid pregnancy.
All Natural Fertility educators are trained and accredited by the Australia Council of Natural Family Planning.
Clinics are offered on a group basis and one-to-one sessions. Topics covered include:
- Fertility awareness
- Infertility
- Fertility whilst breast feeding
- Lactation Amenorrhoea Method (LAM)
- Coming off the Pill
- Peri-menopause

All information held is kept in accordance with the Privacy Amendment Act (Private Sector) 2000.
Funding
Centacare NENW is partly funded by the Department of Health and Ageing and the Charitable Works Fund of the Diocese of Broken Bay (Centacare NENW acts as an agent for Centacare Broken Bay for this service). In order to assist with covering costs for the program a fee is charged. Discounts are offered to Health Care Card holders.
