Centacare New England North West presents a range of programs as a part of the Family Mental Health Support Services.  These include:

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Courses are 2 day courses which cover the topics of depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use disorder, eating disorders and non suicidal self injury.  Participants must be over 18 years of age.

The Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Depression

(CBT) program is for people who are diagnosed with mild to moderate depression.  The course helps to develop coping and problem solving skills which can alleviate stress felt with everyday tasks. A referral to this program is required.

The Smiles Program

For children aged 8 to 11 years of age and adolescents 12 to 14 years of age. The purpose of the Smiles program is to provide age-appropriate education about mental illness while developing life skills.  Conducted in a group of 8 to 10 participants we work to promote better mental health outcomes for children through improving coping skills and building resilience, while raising their awareness and understanding of mental health issues. The course helps the children distinguish between fact and myth and common phrases they may hear which in turn produces stigma.

The Adolescents Coping with Emotions

(ACE) is a CBT based program for adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years of age.  It is for adolescents suffering from depressive symptoms, or at risk of developing depressive symptoms.  This program looks at dealing with conflict, problem solving and negotiation skills while working to boost self esteem.

The Achieving Wellbeing & Happiness Program

For adults aged 18 and above is a CBT based program for people suffering from depression and or anxiety.  The program runs over 4 weeks and covers emotion regulation, self esteem, anxiety management, communication, coping and problem solving skills.  The program aims to also improve family relationships and to give awareness of local supports.
